Noun: A person, place, thing, or idea. scientist, Mars, telescope, equality, time
Verb: Expresses an action or a state of being. cook, swoop, dive, is, exist, does
Adverb: A word that modifies a verb, in other words it will tell where, when, how, or to what extent in relation to the verb. suddenly, often, beautifully Adjective: An adjective modifies a noun or a pronoun. It tells which one, how many, what kind, or how much. green, smart, extraordinary
Pronoun: A word used in place of a noun. she, we, yourself, nobody, who, everybody
Preposition: A word that shows how a noun or pronoun is related to some other word in the sentence. Prepositions indicate direction, position, or relation in time. Across, at, of, until, in, about, from, on
Conjunction: A word that connects words or groups of words. and, or, but, so, yet, because, if
Interjection: A word that shows feeling or sudden emotion. An interjection can stand by itself. wow, hey, my word
